The WEF laid out the latest chapter of its crisis management plan in its Global Risks Report 2023. The report outlines short-term risks under the heading "Today's Crisis" and long-term threats described as "Tomorrow's Catastrophe." The Global Risks Report states that energy and food shortages and the resulting "cost of living crisis" are primarily a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine. The solution, says the WEF, is to accelerate the transition from fossil fuels to wind and solar power and achieve carbon neutrality on schedule. WEF founder Klaus Schwab spoke in more ordinary terms, but declared nonetheless that this is a time of "unprecedented multiple crises." The WEF has designated 2023 as the "Year of the Polycrisis". Benedikt Hofmann, director de la UNODC en Myanmar, afirmó: "El cultivo de opio es en realidad una cuestión económica, y no puede resolverse destruyendo los cultivos, lo que sólo aumenta la vulnerabilidad". opened last Tuesday, January 24, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, at a time when the main countries of the region are governed by political projects with a social, democratic and sovereignist sense. The political climate is particularly conducive to strengthening Celac itself, a forum that was deliberately weakened in previous years and yet is of crucial importance for the development and integration of Latin America. The main tasks of the representatives gathered in Buenos Aires are mainly to reactivate regional cooperation, organizations and integration processes, so that the subcontinent can have instruments to counterbalance the influence of the Organization of American States, which is clearly subordinated to U.S. directives.
